of MT ET's on your car and you dump it at 6K (which isn't uncommon), your RPM may fall to about 4000 (at the lowest usually) on the launch until the car catches up to the wheelspeed. In this case, you are actually using the inertia of the engine to launch (and that's a great word for it too:) the car out of the hole. I would imagine that in this scenario you are putting an enormous amouont of torque to the wheels as the momentum of the spinning parts is absorbed into making the car move forward; more torque than the engine will ever generate in a BHP/BTQ scenario. I was also thinking more about this and pretty much concluded that horsepower is really what you want because you can overcome the lack of torque by launching at high RPM with sticky tires (at the strip) and on the highway you will simply own everyone.
